Proven Platforms for High Density, High Availability Requirements
Shorten System Design Cycles with AdvancedTCA
Integrated AdvancedTCA Open Modular PlatformsKontron platform architects work with TEM/NEP clients to determine the best carrier-grade, high-density AdvancedTCA platform configuration for their system designs. We pre-validate, pre-test and, of course, provide the flexibility to integrate even third-party ATCA/AMC hardware and carrier grade OS, HA Middleware, and HPI software.
AdvancedTCA Open Modular ComponentsKontron designs and produces it own line of AdvancedTCA component hardware, including a full range of GbE and 10GbE AdvancedTCA processor nodes, switches, and carriers, plus a diverse portfolio of AdvancedMC processor, storage and I/O modules.

Integrated AdvancedTCA Open Modular Platforms
High demands on processing and I/O capacity: Ethernet remains the highest-bandwidth, lowest cost solution for transporting native IP traffic and together, IP and Ethernet are the building blocks of the most efficient Triple Play Networks. ATCA is ideally suited to provide the high capacity for both processing and I/O for today’s and future needs.
Sustainable growthFor the protection of investments, a modular concept to handle growth and upgrades is indispensable. ATCA is able to provide systems from entry level to the highest capacity and density of processing. AMCs represent a foundation of a flexible and scalable systems design. A modular design supports easy upgrades at lowest cost.
High AvailabilityATCA platforms enable full redundancy that deliver rigorous “fivenines” system uptime. A significant factor for CSCF and HSS elements.
Multimedia Storage and TranscodingWith the ability for high density processing, ATCA platforms may be used to host media processing (HMP) for voice and video.
SignalingATCA processing boards combined with AMC modules can connect to legacy networks when SS7 or other PSTN signaling is required.
SIP PerformanceWithin the ATCA specification, there is a cap of 200 watts of power consumed per slot, enabling high performance processors to be adequately cooled during high compute density processing. Reduces delay in call setup times in a SIP environment.
StorageATCA supports either base or extended fabric interfaces, ideal for CSCF and HSS elements.
Control and User Data SeparationWith its flexible GbE fabric interface architecture, ATCA can connect up to four separate networks in one IMS setup.
Processor, Switch and Carrier Blades
TEMs / NEPs may choose from a complete Kontron portfolio of AdvancedTCA GbE and 10GbE processor, switch and carrier blades to build AdvancedTCA-based carrier grade systems. Each platform element provides system High Availability (HA) and high levels of modularity and configurability. This permits an ease of integration of multiple functions and new features, all on the same common platform.
There are major spin-off benefits for mobile-telco service providers, who can expect reductions in CAPEX and OPEX, with reusable network systems and a greater flexibility to quickly introduce and terminate – in other words, “Swap-in/Swap-out” – subscriber services with no downtime. Even more significant for your carrier clients is they will be able to effortlessly grow their networks as their subscriber traffic increases.
ATCA, CRMS, MicroTCA/AMC, and M2M product updates plus market insights of COTS computing for the 4G LTE EPC, Content Delivery, and Carrier Cloud computing segments.

High-speed Serial Interfaces based on AdvancedMC™ and MicroTCA
ATCA and MicroTCA are finding opportunities in military applications where performance and bandwidth are high priorities.
Form factors such as CompactPCI, VME and VPX provide solutions for today’s ever growing demands for high-bandwidth data movement in military systems. PCI Express and Ethernet provide the fabric interconnects that bring it all together.
Blueslice delivers the first commercially available HLR built on an AdvancedTCA open modular system provided by Kontron.
The Blueslice carrier-grade, open modular HLR supports a database scalable to several million subscriber profiles in a small 12U footprint, with no single point of failure in both hardware and software. With features that specifically target the MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) market, the Blueslice ngHLR 3000™ supports VoIP/WiFi, 3G, and IMS in the same platform, and is compliant with GSM Phase 2+ Release 4, and 3GPP R5/R6. As an open, non-proprietary platform designed with Kontron AdvancedTCA processor, switch, and chassis building blocks, the ngHLR 3000™ is changing the HLR paradigm for mobile operators.
