| As more high-density servers come online, businesses are increasingly requiring advanced RAID functionality in a small form factor. This is exactly the need addressed by the new Adaptec 2120S & 2200S cards. These controllers provide a number of advanced features for entry-level and mid-range servers, such as optimum capacity use of mixed size drives. Both the 2120S & 2200S RAID controllers feature Ultra320 SCSI and data transfer rates up to 320 MBps on each channel. These cards also offer Seamless Streaming, developed by Adaptec to optimize Ultra320 performance, maximizing bus utilization and minimizing command overhead as multiple commands are transferred in a single connection and at higher speeds. Both cards are low-profile MD2 form factor, and accommodate an optionally available battery backup module for 72-hour cache memory protection. For single-channel RAID control in high-density servers and workstations, both conventional and rackmount, the 2120S is an excellent choice. The 2200S is a dual-channel controller is ideal for entry-level to mid-range and high density servers and workstations servers requiring up to 30 disk drives. The 2120S & 2200S are 64/66 MHz PCI cards with 64 MByte/sec of cache memory. Included with the cards is the Adaptec Storage Manager-Browser Edition which allows system administrators to remotely manage, monitor, and configure RAID subsystems through password-protected web access. |
