According to the latest reports from VDC, more OEM customers require complete systems and want to work with a single partner for the complete solution: module, carrier board, operating system, and enclosure. The Certified Design Partner Program for Computer-on-Modules, as well as the Boards & More, ODM, and Software Design Services from Kontron, are each dedicated to customer-specific designs, which Kontron offers in addition to standard products. “Customers get everything they need for their IPC application from hardware and drivers to operating systems from a single source which allows them to fully concentrate on their core competencies: the development of their application and software,” says Mayer.

Kontron founded the Certified Design Partner Program for Computer-on-Modules in 2000 to ensure the customer-specific development of carrier boards for a variety of possible embedded applications. Certified Design Partners for Computer-on-Modules are qualified by Kontron, offering expert knowledge and ensuring that established workflows, carrier boards and system platforms are reliably developed within the projected time frame. This program, which initially only included ETX® modules, has grown since 2006 to include designs based on COM Express™ Computer-on-Modules.
